Visiting Liwonde National Park as well as Lake Malawi gives you the opportunity to be in the African bush and on the beaches of the third largest lake in Africa in a short period of time.
On arrival at Lilongwe, you will be met by Bon Voyage Tours representative, At least 30 minutes drive you will be transferred to Umodzi Park, a 5 star hotel in the heart of the City Center on Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for one night.
Lilongwe is the capital and largest city of Malawi, became the capital and administrative City of Malawi in 1975 after relocating from Zomba. The city is located in the central region of Malawi, in the district of the same name, and it is an important economic and transportation hub for central Malawi. It is named after the Lilongwe River.
After breakfast, you’ll meet your private driver for your 4.30-hour drive to Kuthengo Camp in Liwonde National Park. On arrival, you’ll check in and enjoy a hearty lunch, before settling into your room.
Despite its relatively small size, Liwonde is arguably one of the most diverse habitats in the whole of Africa, with rocky outcrops and miombo woodland mixed with large forests of cathedral mopane and unique succulents.
This evening, you’ll board your first boat safari on the majestic Shire River. As the largest river in Malawi, it provides a year-round haven for elephants, crocodiles and over 400 species of birds such as fish eagles, weaver birds and Pel’s fishing owl.
This morning we will continue exploring Malawi by driving to the Lake Malawi. Lake Malawi, also known as Lake Nyasa in Tanzania and Lago Niassa in Mozambique, is an African Great Lake and the southernmost lake in the East African Rift system, located between Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania. It is the fourth largest fresh water lake in the world by volume, the ninth largest lake in the world by area. Here you can enjoy your relaxing time by the lake. Optionally you can enjoy morning walk, boat ride, and snorkeling experience in crystal clear water,
Your stay at Sunbird Livingstonia beach is for 2 nights on a full basis
Enjoy breakfast and a final morning on the waters of Lake Malawi, before checking and meeting your private driver for your one and half -hour transfer to Kamazu International Airport. At the airport, you will be assisted to check-in with your bags, before boarding your return flight home.
